This refresher training 1 day course is for supervisors in mining & construction industries. It provides students with the opportunity to refresh the knowledge & skills required to manage work groups in relation to risk management, incident investigations & quality communications. The Supervisor Training Program course is a requirement under Qld Coal Mining Act & Regulations for people who manage others & for elected Health Safety Representatives.

Course Outcomes
On successful completion of this training course, candidates will be issued with a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment.
Refresher Details:
Candidates may be required to complete refresher training every five (5) years from date of course completion, if working on a coal mine site. Candidates may also be required to complete this refresher training earlier to comply with any site compliances.

S1) RIIRIS301E Apply risk management processes
This unit covers the application of the processes and tasks to conduct inspections and to identify analyse, assess risks, recommend treatment, and contribute to implementation of treatments and to monitor risks. It also covers participation in the preparation, testing and documentation of safe working instructions or equivalent.
S2) RIIWHS301E Conduct safety and health investigations
This unit covers the application of safety and health investigative processes at the operational level including the identification and collection of evidence, the analysis of evidence to identify the reasons for and results of the occurrence or situations, and the identification and documentation of courses of action to resolve and/or prevent re-occurrence of the issues or problems.
S3) RIICOM301E Communicate Information
This unit covers the function required to effectively communicate information with other persons in the mining industry. This includes communicating verbally, communicating in written and report form, participating in meetings, making presentations, and participating in operational level negotiations.
Day 1 – Theory and Practical Assessment covering all 3 units.
Note: this is a refresher program only – you must have previously held the S123 RII units in order to enrol.

We will always customise the course to suit your unique workplace requirements. Please ask our staff about alternate training and assessment strategies that can be designed should you have prior experience or knowledge including but not limited to change in course days, disability options, LLN support where applicable, credit transfer/RPL and in house one on one where possible.
Course Pre-Requisites
- Must have previously held an S123 (RII) units of competency and show currency via third party report.
- Photo identification to be provided on the day your program commences.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy
This training program requires reading, writing and numeracy skills.

Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)
If you feel you have the required skills, past experience or qualifications that should be recognised as part of this program, then please mention this to our friendly staff to discuss your options
Credit Transfer
Credit Transfer is a process that provides students with agreed and consistent credit outcomes for units/qualifications that can be identified as equivalent in content. Please discuss this option upon enrolment if you feel your learning outcome can be matched with a current unit or qualification you may already hold
Study Pathways
Further study pathways applicable to participants whom have completed the S123 units, is that of the RIIRIS402D Carry Out the Risk Management Processes (G2) course. This course is essentially an extension of the S123 units of competency, as it relates to the facilitation of risk management in the resource and civil construction industry.
